The Beautiful, Rich and Famous

Who is the richest man ever?

Ever wondered who's the richest man ever? You maybe thinking John Rockyfeller, Andrew Carnegie, Nicholas II of Russia, William Henry Vanderbilt, Osman Ali Khan, Andrew Mellon, Henry Ford, Warren Buffett, or Bill Gates?

Guess what? You're not even close. The richest man who ever lived is Adam. The whole earth, can you believe it, the entire world once belonged to him.

But something went wrong, he did not live up to the expectations of the One who gave the whole world to him. The reason why? his disobedience. He screwed it up.

The top killers: Unfaithfulness and Pride

Imagine going against God who can give wealth, wisdom, and honour for our enjoyment. He has the power to provide and the power to take away. Before destruction is pride and pride is an abomination to God. What does it profit a man who gains the whole world and yet loses his own soul? Is not life more than riches? Riches poses a snare to men's perdition. The love of money is a root of all evil and men who coveted after it have pierced themselves through with many griefs.

The Rich Fool

Parable of the Rich Fool - Luke 12:13-21
[13] Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me."

[14] Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?" [15] Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."

[16] And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. [17] He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.'

[18] "Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. [19] And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry." '

[20] "But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'

[21] "This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God."

Adam's unfaithfulness and Satan's Pride

Hosea 6:7
[7] Like Adam, they have broken the covenant-they were unfaithful to me there.

Isaiah 14:11-15
[11] All your pomp has been brought down to the grave,
along with the noise of your harps;
maggots are spread out beneath you
and worms cover you.

[12] How you have fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!

[13] You said in your heart,
"I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne
above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.

[14] I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High."

[15] But you are brought down to the grave,
to the depths of the pit.

The truth shall prevail that...

Mat 23:12  And whoever shall exalt himself shall be abased, and he who shall humble himself shall be exalted.

and

Psa 31:23  All who belong to the LORD, show how you love him. The LORD protects the faithful, but he severely punishes everyone who is proud.
